UAE airport free zone launches halal trade center

DUBAI, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE)'s Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (DAFZA) and the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre (DIEDC) launched here on Tuesday Halal Trade and Marketing Centre, a statement released by e-mail said.
 
The announcement was made on the sidelines of the ongoing 4th edition of the Global Islamic Economy Summit.
 
The Halal Trade and Marketing Center "will support the government's efforts to attract more foreign investments into the UAE," the statement said.
 
Launch of the center included announcement of 17 strategic partners and service providers from federal and local government bodies and institutions as well as international banks and organizations.
 
"The UAE is widely considered as a major hub providing services to halal product consumers valued at 512 billion U.S. dollars," said Mohammed Al Zarooni, director general of DAFZA.
 
Abdulla Mohammed Al Awar, CEO of DIEDC, said that "launch of the first Halal Trade and Marketing Centre in the region is an important step in our journey to cement Dubai's position as the global capital of the Islamic economy." Enditem
